Branding Photography for Massage Therapist in Draper, UT

In early February 2020, we received an inquiry from a Massage Therapist working out of Cradle Your Soul in Draper, Utah. Sophia reached out about branding photographs for her website and social media.

We met at her studio to discussed her photography needs and I was excited to learn that she specializes in ashiatsu massage. Ashiatsu massage is a method of massage therapy using feet. The practitioner uses ceiling bars that are designed to provide them with the leverage they need to maintain their balance as they walk on your back.

Sophia was also interested in some headshots and our marketing branding video.

We set a date for mid-March and began planning for her session. BUT....Covid-19 hit and we had to postpone the shoot until June. 

When the day finally came, we started with her headshots in the lobby of the studio. We used the natural light coming in through the windows to achieve a beautiful soft lighting. 

We then moved to the yoga room which was dimly lit. One thing that most people don't realize is that you can't just take a flash into a dimly lit room and expect that the lighting will be "natural" looking and maintain a sense of ambiance. We used two flashes directed away from the subject to bounce of the mirrors on both sides of the room to achieve a more flattering light on our subject, but still make it look natural to the scene. 

After the yoga shots we began shooting in the massage room which was small. So small that I had my lighting assistant wait outside. Again, bouncing light off of walls and the ceiling was key to adding enough light to get a proper exposure yet still maintaining the soft, dim lighting that you usually see in a massage room. 

Just a few days after the session, we presented Sophia with her images and she was thrilled, saying:

"I had a fantastic experience working with Monica for a photoshoot for my massage therapy practice. Communication has always been prompt and she has a beautiful eye for detail.
