ABOUT US
Salt Lake City Area Headshot, Branding & Portrait Photographer
Meet Monica Burby
[Owner & Photographer]
My favorite part of being a photographer and studio owner for the past 20+ years, is working with my clients to give them the very best photography experience. My team and I will walk you through every step of our streamlined process, making it easy to get the professional photography that will take your or corporate or personal brand to the next level.
Hiring a professional photographer will elevate your brand, your engagement rates, and subsequent sales, making it a valuable investment.
My love for photography began in high school and continued through college. I graduated from the University in Utah with a degree in Art History and a special emphasis in photography. After winning several fine art photography competitions, I had the opportunity to live in Italy and tour Europe where my understanding of the art of photography further deepened.
Upon returning from Europe, I taught photography at Salt Lake Community College, assisted professional photographers, worked at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts and managed an art gallery in Park City. After years of diversifying my experience and practicing my craft, I opened Photoumbra Studios in 2004.
The success of my studio has drawn national attention and was featured in Professional Photographer Magazine and was named winner of the 2023 Best of State in Commercial Photography for Utah. I've also had the opportunity to speak at a National Photography Convention called SYNC.
While these accomplishments are nice, I take the greatest pride in what my clients think about the experience my studio provides. I strive to ensure that every client feels like my most important, and that my team and I exceed your expectations.
I provide on-location photography as well as in my photography studio which is located in Herriman, UT. Studio visits are by appointment.
I look forward to working with you!

I believe the power of kindness can make a difference and that a smile can light up a room. I strive to lend a hand and bring cheer to those around me, knowing that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
I love interacting with people. I think it is so important to build relationships and get to know people on a personal level. Hard work is essential, and I aim to infuse this value into everything I do. I believe that every great achievement is made up of countless little gestures of care.
At home, my world revolves around the beautiful chaos of family life. As a wife and mother of four amazing kids- two daughters and two sons-I've found joy and growth in almost two decades of marriage. My days are a whirlwind of activity, filled with the laughter and energy of my children as they dive into sports, school, and community events. From school plays to church activities, my family keeps me on my toes, and I cherish every moment spent together.
Amid life's ups and downs, my greatest happiness comes from sharing simple moments with the people I love. One of them being, eating a home cooked meal that little hands have helped me make while we sit around the kitchen table laughing and talking about our day. I treasure the friendships I've formed with people from all walks of life, each one adding to my life.
I am excited for my time with Photoumbra Studios and to utilize my people skills in a new way!
